Jugaad

Jugaadu Kamlesh, a 25-year-old innovator from Malegaon, Maharashtra, gained national attention for his creative farming solution aimed at easing the lives of Indian farmers. Coming from a farming background, he witnessed the physical strain his father endured while spraying pesticides with a heavy backpack. Using scrap materials, Kamlesh designed a pesticide-spraying trolley by mounting the tank on a bicycle frame, which eliminated the need to carry it on the back and improved safety by positioning the sprinklers away from the user’s face. Despite lacking formal education or engineering training, Kamlesh’s invention reflects true grassroots innovation or “jugaad.” Recognizing its potential, TractorGyan has proposed a collaboration with Kamlesh and Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal to promote such solutions under a dedicated “JUGAAD” segment. Their shared goal is to bring accessible, effective tools to every farmer in India and support local inventors who are transforming Indian agriculture from the ground up.
